The Office of the Royal Society of Thailand is organizing an award ceremony for the Royal Society of Thailand Commendation Award, a handwriting competition for youth, a Thai standard language and regional Thai language storytelling competition, as well as an academic seminar, on the occasion of National Thai Language Day 2026. The event aims to encourage youth to appreciate the value, beauty, and importance of the Thai language — encompassing writing, speaking, the use of standard Thai, and the preservation of regional Thai dialects, which are a cultural heritage and a key national identity.
This event is honored to have Mr. Pakorn Nilprapan, Deputy Prime Minister, serve as the presiding officer at the award presentation ceremony, where he will present prizes to competition winners and deliver words of guidance to the recipients. In the afternoon, an academic seminar will be held on the topic "Regional Words, Poetic Words: A Lexical Treasury for the Thai Language," showcasing the significance of knowledge in language and literature for the compilation of Thai dictionaries. The seminar features distinguished speakers, including:
• Special Professor Dr. Prakhong Nimmanhemin, Academician, Academy of Arts
• Professor Emeritus Dr. Kusuma Raksamani, Honorary Academician
• Associate Professor Dr. Wiphas Phothiphaet, Associate Member, Academy of Arts
The event will be held on Friday, 14 August 2026, from 09:00–15:00, at the Eternity Room, Pullman King Power Hotel, Bangkok. Those interested can watch the live broadcast via the Facebook page of the Office of the Royal Society of Thailand, and find further details at www.orst.go.th, or contact Khun Chutima at Tel. 095-634-7326 for more information.
