Sriracha News Center — A Chinese father in his 20s flew urgently from China to Pattaya after his son was stabbed to death in a rental room in the Na Jomtien area, seeking justice and asking police to investigate every aspect of the case — in particular the 21-year-old woman who was present in the room at the time of the incident — and requesting checks of phone records, chat messages, CCTV footage, and circumstantial witnesses, amid fears that the public is hearing only one side of the story.
At 9:00 a.m. today (10 Aug.), in front of the Pattaya Provincial Court, Mr. Cao Haibo, the father of Mr. Cao Ke, 20, a Chinese national who died after being stabbed inside a rental room in Soi Na Jomtien 30, Na Jomtien Subdistrict, Sattahip District, Chon Buri Province, during the morning of 8 Aug., arrived in Thailand with his family to follow up on the case and seek justice for his son.
The atmosphere was one of deep grief. The family of the deceased brought banners in three languages — Chinese, Thai, and English — and held them up in front of the court, calling on officials to handle the case straightforwardly and asking Thai authorities to help ensure the safety of foreign tourists.
Mr. Cao Haibo disclosed through an interpreter that the purpose of this trip to Thailand was to learn the full facts surrounding his son's death. He acknowledged that the loss of a child he had raised for 20 years was an immense pain, but said he still had faith in Thailand's justice system and wanted police to investigate every aspect of the case in thorough detail.
The family stated that before the incident, the son had sat eating with friends for approximately three hours before leaving the restaurant and heading to the room where the incident occurred. During that time, a young woman had contacted the son multiple times — both by phone call and video call — before the son traveled to meet her at the room after midnight.
For this reason, the family wants police to examine the contact history, chat messages, mobile phone data, and CCTV footage, as well as to question circumstantial witnesses, in order to find answers as to why the son went to that room and what events took place before the incident.
In addition, the family also asked officials to scrutinize the background of the 21-year-old woman who was inside the room at the time of the incident, requesting that police cross-reference information from her phone, chat records, CCTV footage, and witness statements to resolve all outstanding questions.
Mr. Cao Haibo stressed that he does not want the public to hear only one side of the story, but wants officials to investigate every aspect thoroughly so that the truth can come to light and his son can receive justice.
Recapping the tragic incident: Chinese man stabbed to death in rental room
As for the case itself, it occurred at 7:10 a.m. on 8 Aug., when officers received a report that a Chinese man had been stabbed to death inside a rental room in Soi Na Jomtien 30, Na Jomtien Subdistrict, Sattahip District, Chon Buri Province. The deceased was identified as Mr. Cao Ke, 20.
Inside the room, a 21-year-old woman was also found with a sharp-object injury to her hand, visibly in a state of shock. The perpetrator — a 20-year-old man, a vocational diploma (Por Wor Sor) student at a technical institute in the area and the woman's boyfriend — had fled after the incident before his guardian later brought him to surrender to officers at Na Jomtien Police Station.
Police subsequently took the suspect to re-enact the crime in a scene reconstruction, and formally charged him with "intentional murder." He was also taken to point out where he had discarded the knife — in an area of dense undergrowth behind the room — where officers used a metal detector to search and found a curved folding knife with a pointed tip, which officials believe was the weapon used. It was collected for forensic examination.
During the crime scene re-enactment, a group of relatives of the deceased Chinese national who had traveled to the scene attempted to assault the suspect, forcing police to intervene and quickly remove the suspect from the area to prevent the situation from escalating.
In the initial interrogation, the suspect stated that he had been in a relationship with his girlfriend for approximately three months. On the night of the incident, he had traveled to work in Pattaya City before returning to the room in the morning. Upon opening the door, he found the Chinese man inside, so he entered to question him and picked up a knife to intimidate him.
The suspect claimed that the Chinese man attempted to grab the knife, and a struggle ensued — including an altercation involving choking — until he managed to wrest the knife back, after which he stabbed the Chinese man multiple times. He claimed he had no intention of killing him, then fled toward Pattaya City and decided to surrender after learning that the Chinese man had died.
The 21-year-old woman, for her part, stated that she had known and been in contact with the deceased for approximately two months. On the night of the incident, the deceased had come to her room at around midnight; the two talked before accidentally falling asleep, until the boyfriend returned in the morning, at which point an argument broke out and the two men came to blows.
The woman claimed she tried to intervene but was cut by the knife and sustained injuries in several places, and was unable to overpower either of the two men, before the boyfriend stabbed the Chinese man to death.
Na Jomtien Police Station officers are currently in the process of questioning witnesses, reviewing CCTV footage, and gathering forensic evidence in order to establish the facts and pursue legal action against all those involved.
