Prachuap Khiri Khan – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Central Region, in collaboration with Wat Huay Mongkol, organised the "Robe-Draping for Luang Pu Tuad, 13th Edition, 2026" at Wat Huay Mongkol, Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, offering Buddhist devotees and tourists the opportunity to pay homage to the large statue of Luang Pu Tuad, participate in the robe-draping ceremony for auspiciousness, and experience faith-based tourism.
Today (9 Aug.), Ms. Wannapa Kiattiphongsa, Director of the TAT Central Region Office, stated that the event is one of the most significant faith-based tourism activities in the central region and a meritorious occasion that gives the public the opportunity to pay reverence to the large statue of Luang Pu Tuad — a spiritual focal point for Buddhist devotees — while also continuing to uphold cherished traditions and culture.
In attendance at the event were Ms. Apinya Iam-ampha, Deputy Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province; Mr. Kitiphong Siriphetchasem, President of the Hua Hin/Cha-am Tourism Business Association; Dr. Somchai Krajaejoem, Chairman of the Tourism Industry Council of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province; as well as a large number of Buddhist devotees and tourists.
Phra Phisal Sitthikhun, Abbot of Wat Huay Mongkol and President of the Sangha side of the ceremony, led the monastic assembly and attendees in a clockwise procession carrying the robe around the statue of Luang Pu Tuad before draping it over the large statue, in order to bring auspiciousness and uplift the spirits of all who attended.
In addition, the public was invited to register to receive Luang Pu Tuad amulets that had been consecrated in a Buddhist blessing ceremony by Somdet Phra Maha Ratchamongkhlamuni (Chao Khun Thongchai), to take home for veneration. A food and beverage merit hall was also provided for members of the public attending the event.
Mr. Akkrawit Thapasite, TAT Deputy Governor for Administration and the presiding officer of the ceremony, said that TAT is confident the event will serve as a key driving force in promoting faith-based tourism by linking belief, faith, tradition, culture, and local identity with tourism, creating meaningful travel experiences under the concept of "Feel All The Feelings."
Tourists who travel to attend the event are also able to extend their journey to explore Prachuap Khiri Khan Province and nearby areas, including relaxing by the Hua Hin seaside, experiencing community ways of life, sampling local cuisine, and visiting natural attractions during the Green Season — all of which will help distribute income to local businesses and communities in a comprehensive and sustainable manner. #mgrCentralEast #LuangPuTuad
