Government spokesperson reveals that the Prime Minister has expressed condolences to the families of those killed and injured in the school shooting, and has ordered relevant agencies to provide urgent relief and assistance — 1 million baht for each fatality.
Today (7 Aug.), Ms. Rachada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, disclosed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the incident in which a male student opened fire inside Debsirin Bangkruai School in Nonthaburi Province, and has ordered relevant agencies to provide urgent relief and assistance.
Ms. Rachada said that Mr. Pharadorn Prisananantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office and Chairman of the Public Disaster Victim Assistance Fund Committee under the Office of the Prime Minister, is scheduled to convene a meeting this afternoon to consider disbursing compensation from the Public Disaster Victim Assistance Fund. The amounts, based on precedents set in previous incidents, are as follows: death cases — 1,000,000 baht; permanent disability cases — 700,000 baht; serious injury cases — 200,000 baht; and minor injury cases — 100,000 baht.
Regarding assistance from the Rights and Liberties Protection Department, Ministry of Justice, the department has already moved in to provide help, and the care provided will be in accordance with the Act on Compensation for the Injured Person and Compensation and Expenses for the Accused in Criminal Cases.
"The government wishes to express its condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives and to those who have been injured in this incident, and stands ready to integrate assistance from government agencies to urgently provide comprehensive support in every aspect, in accordance with the directives of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul," Ms. Rachada said.
