Tragic! Relatives of slain teacher weep, Grade 11 student opens up about moments fleeing for their life. Nonthaburi school shooting gunman dies

At 12:30 p.m. on 7 August 2026, a reporter provided an update on the shooting incident inside a school in Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province, confirming that the perpetrator has now died at Bang Kruai Hospital after shooting himself in the temple following the attack. Rescue personnel had previously attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in a bid to save his life before rushing him to the hospital.

The perpetrator has been preliminarily identified as Patchat, a 14-year-old Grade 9 student. The cause and motive behind the attack are still under thorough investigation by police.

A reporter spoke with the maternal aunt of "Kru Khanun," one of the victims who was killed. The aunt had traveled to the scene hoping to receive good news, but upon arrival was overcome with grief, weeping in front of the school. She then opened up to the reporter, saying that the family has not yet told Kru Khanun's mother that her daughter has died, as they are still holding out hope and waiting for official confirmation.

The aunt recounted that she learned the news through a message on the Line application while she was selling goods alongside Kru Khanun's mother, who still does not know that her daughter has died because the family has not yet had the courage to tell her the truth. The aunt said she saw a photo of a young female teacher lying in a pool of blood, who appeared to be Kru Khanun and whom she recognized immediately, leaving her heartbroken. She said she never imagined such a horrifying incident could happen inside a school.

Meanwhile, the reporter spoke with a Grade 11 student who was present during the incident. The student recounted the harrowing moments, saying that while in class, they first heard a loud noise that sounded like something falling, followed by the continuous sound of multiple gunshots. A friend then sent a message via Line alerting them that a shooting was taking place inside the school, after which a teacher quickly came to evacuate students from the classroom to a safe location.

The student said they did not know the perpetrator personally but knew he was a Grade 9 student. The student also admitted that the incident was extremely frightening, as it was something no one expected to happen at school. Furthermore, the school had only recently experienced the death of a student who fell from a roof, making the student feel anxious about safety when coming to school, even though life and studies must continue as normal.

Police are currently continuing to gather evidence, tracing the origin of the firearm, and investigating the motive behind the attack in order to compile a thorough account of all the facts. Meanwhile, the school and relevant agencies are in the process of providing assistance and support to those affected, as well as to the families of those lost in this deeply traumatic incident.
