National Police Chief issues urgent order to control shooting situation at Nonthaburi school, police request public refrain from live-streaming officers' operations
Today (7 Aug.) at 10:40 a.m., Police Lieutenant General Trairong Phiwphan, Deputy Inspector-General of the Royal Thai Police and spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police Office, revealed that Police General Kittrat Phanphet, the National Police Chief, has issued an urgent order to the Nonthaburi Provincial Police Commander to deploy police officers to bring under control a shooting incident inside a school in Nonthaburi Province. He stressed that operations must prioritize the safety of students, teachers, and all persons inside the school as well as the surrounding public, and that officers must also take into account their own safety while carrying out tactical operations. At this time, police officers have entered the area and are working to bring the situation under control as quickly as possible.
The public is also requested to refrain from live-streaming or broadcasting the operations or the area-control actions being carried out by officers. Anyone with information or tips is asked to call 191.
It has been reported that Police General Kittrat has gone to the scene to personally command the response.
The latest information indicates that the perpetrator is a Mathayom 3 (Grade 9) student at the school. Preliminary findings show that the perpetrator shot himself in the head area and is currently receiving CPR. Teachers, students, and all uninvolved persons have been evacuated from the school.
