The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Nan Office has revealed that accommodation operators in Ban Sapan and Huai Thon have opened their facilities to stranded tourists, offering free stays at no charge until the flood situation eases and guests are able to return home safely.
Following the entry of a storm system and continuous heavy rainfall in Nan Province, flash floods, forest runoff, and mudslides occurred on 19 August 2026, causing damage across numerous areas. Pua District was particularly hard hit, with 107 villages across 12 sub-districts affected. Landslides also damaged Route 1256 "Pua – Doi Phu Kha National Park – Bo Kluea," completely closing it to all vehicles.
Bo Kluea District, one of Nan Province's most well-known tourist destinations — home to the key attractions of "Bo Kluea–Sapan–Huai Thon" — was also affected. Flash flooding damaged the Pua–Bo Kluea road, leaving a number of tourists stranded in the area.
As of 19 August 2026, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Nan Office has reported that accommodation operators in the Sapan and Huai Thon areas are welcoming stranded tourists with free overnight stays at no charge, until the situation resolves and travel home becomes safe.
The "Ban Sapan Accommodation Operator Group" has agreed to open its properties to tourists stranded in Bo Kluea District, allowing them to stay free of charge.
The participating accommodations are as follows:
1. Sapan Klang Na — 081-626-5536
2. Na Sapan Camping — 088-602-2811
3. Phu Pan Suk — 080-209-5740
4. Saphan Sapan Homestay — 083-525-2992
5. Zen Sapan — 092-419-4294
6. Na Sapan Homestay — 080-779-9860
7. Sapan Dao Resort — 095-445-3516
8. Khun Khao Thara — 094-935-6962
9. Me Sapan — 064-652-1490
10. Phu Phaya Homestay — 061-349-8766
The "Ban Huai Thon Community Tourism Enterprise Group" (comprising more than 20 accommodation providers) is also welcoming stranded tourists to extend their stays free of charge, at no cost, until the situation eases and they can travel home safely.
Tourists currently travelling in Nan during this period are urged to monitor the situation for flash floods, forest runoff, and mudslides, and to follow weather forecasts and water level updates closely. Bo Kluea District features high, steep mountainous terrain, which frequently causes landslides onto roads during heavy rainfall. Tourists are advised to check weather conditions before travelling to the area.
