(Clip) A Desperate Rescue! Flash Floods and Mudslide Bury a House in Sop Moei — 5 Residents Injured

Mae Hong Son — Military development troops mobilized together with local administrative organizations and residents of Mae Ta Khuan, Sop Moei, Mae Hong Son, in a frantic race to help after heavy rain triggered flash floods that caused a landslide, burying the home of a Ban Khon Phueng resident and injuring 5 people who were trapped under the debris, before all were rushed to hospital in a scene of chaos.

Today (20 Aug.), Mobile Development Unit 36, Regional Development Office 3, Army Development Command, Sop Moei District, Mae Hong Son Province (MDU 36, RDO 3, ADC) was required to mobilize a rapid disaster-relief team of 6 personnel, together with 1 patrol vehicle, joining forces with the Mae Kha Tuan Subdistrict Administrative Organization to search for and assist disaster victims affected by flash floods and mudslides in Sop Moei District, Mae Hong Son Province.

After continuous heavy rainfall caused flash floods, soil layers shifted and collapsed, resulting in a mudslide that buried the home of Mrs. Bia Kang Phathai Phitak Wong, a resident of Ban Khon Phueng, Village No. 5, Mae Kha Tuan Subdistrict, Sop Moei District, Mae Hong Son Province. A preliminary inspection found a total of 5 injured persons.

MDU 36 officials, together with agencies in the area, moved in to take control of the situation and provided urgent first aid to the injured at the scene. They also proceeded to evacuate and transport all injured persons to Sop Moei Hospital for safe medical treatment.
