"Wat Jet Yot" Is a Huge Hit — Chinese "Big Sisters" Go Viral Wearing Thai Traditional Dress, Stringing Garlands to Offer to the Buddha, at Chiang Mai's Would-Be World Heritage Site

Boosting the soft power of the Lanna Thai way of life in a big way, while also adding to the buzz around Chiang Mai's World Heritage bid — the "Chinese big sisters" (พี่สาวจีน / phii sao jin) have moved on from touring and snapping photos to share online (which already made the local Chiang Mai–Lamphun train famous) to their latest trend: booking slots to dress in traditional Thai attire and sit together stringing flower garlands to offer to the Buddha — so much so that Ap Thai Carving has had to add extra class sessions.
