MGR Online — The DSI has concluded its case file in the Tangmo matter and will submit it to the NACC to pursue action against more than 40 state officials and private individuals for obstructing justice, on 26 August at 10:00 a.m.
The matter follows a personal Facebook post by Assoc. Prof. Panthep Puangpongpan, chairman of the Yam Fao Phaendin Foundation, in which he stated: "In summary, the investigation has found that there is genuine substance to the allegation that the Tangmo case was manipulated. The DSI will submit the matter to the NACC to take action against those involved this Wednesday." The post drew a large number of comments.
Today (24 August), a source from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) disclosed that Investigation Officer Panel No. 20/2025 has completed its investigation and the collection of evidence — encompassing witness testimony from all relevant parties, forensic evidence, photographs of individuals aboard the boat whose verified results contradict the vessel's GPS data and mobile phone records, and other evidence. The case file comprises 45 volumes and more than 13,000 pages of documents, and involves approximately 40 state officials and private individuals who collectively participated in distorting the investigation outcomes within the justice process.
This stems from the Nonthaburi Provincial Court's acquittal of the four defendants — Ms. Ichsirin Juthasuksawat, known as "Kratik"; Mr. Wisaphach Manomairat, known as "San"; Mr. Nithat Keeratisuthisathorn, known as "Job"; and Mr. Phim Thammatheerasri, known as "M" — on charges of negligence causing the death of another person, in connection with the death of Ms. Phatthathida Patcharaweerapong, known as "Tangmo," a well-known former actress who fell from a speedboat and died in 2022. Subsequently, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), led by its investigation panel, accepted Investigation Case No. 20/2025 from Mrs. Phanida Siriyutthayothin, also known as Tangmo's mother, and Mr. Atchariya Ruangrat, chairman of the Crime Victims Assistance Club, acting as complainants, and assigned legal counsel to examine the circumstances of the death.
There were suspicious indications that various groups of individuals had jointly and unlawfully manipulated the criminal justice process in order to assist others in escaping punishment or in receiving reduced penalties. The panel also accepted physical evidence, documentary evidence, and material exhibits, and conducted interviews with various witnesses so that the said investigation could proceed effectively — from February 2025 to the present — before the case file is prepared for submission to the Office of the NACC on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, at 10:00 a.m., representing a total operational period of more than one year.
