Suan Dusit Poll: Public Fairly Interested in No-Confidence Debate, Pushing for Focus on Economy; Want Allegations Investigated Seriously but Doubt Political Change

Suan Dusit Poll reveals that the public is fairly interested in the no-confidence debate, with over 80% wanting the interpellation to focus on economic problems. However, they do not believe it will help hold the government accountable, and they want the allegations to be investigated seriously. The public views the overall political situation as unlikely to change.

Today (23 Aug.), "Suan Dusit Poll" of Suan Dusit University conducted a nationwide survey on the topic "The Public and the No-Confidence Debate Against the Government," with a sample group of 1,267 people (surveyed online and in the field) between 18–21 August 2026. The results are summarised as follows:

1. How interested is the public in following the upcoming no-confidence debate against the government?

Rank 1: Fairly interested — 38.28%

Rank 2: Very interested — 29.68%

Rank 3: Not very interested — 27.15%

Rank 4: Not interested — 4.89%

2. The issues the public most wants to see debated in the no-confidence session:

Rank 1: Solving economic and cost-of-living problems — 80.58%

Rank 2: Corruption in local government examinations — 54.54%

Rank 3: Energy problems and energy prices — 53.59%

Rank 4: Use of the 400-billion-baht loan — 35.04%

Rank 5: Senate collusion — 34.25%

3. Does the public believe the no-confidence debate will help scrutinise the government's performance?

Rank 1: Do not believe — 54.30%

Rank 2: Believe — 45.70%

4. After the no-confidence debate, what do people most want to see happen?

Rank 1: Continuous and serious investigation of the allegations — 56.99%

Rank 2: The government clarifying doubts so the public understands — 46.25%

Rank 3: Those involved taking political responsibility — 45.30%

5. After the no-confidence debate, in which direction do people think the overall Thai political situation will change?

Rank 1: Unlikely to change — 50.28%

Rank 2: Improve — 28.49%

Rank 3: Uncertain — 14.36%

Rank 4: Worsen — 6.87%
