Immigration Division 3 investigators raid Chinese-capital construction site, arrest 5 illegal workers on 3 charges, push to prosecute employer

Immigration Division 3 investigators raid Chinese-capital construction site, arrest 5 illegal foreign workers — violations include illegal entry, no work permit, and working outside permitted scope — authorities order follow-up action against employer and all parties involved.

Today (21 Aug.), Maj. Gen. Songprod Sirisukhа, Commander of Immigration Division 3, revealed that on 20 August 2025, Pol. Col. Chinawut Tangwonglert, Deputy Commander of Immigration Division 3 overseeing investigative operations, ordered Pol. Col. Suriya Phuangsamhat, Superintendent of the Investigation Unit of Immigration Division 3, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Pitipat Srithanaapinan, Deputy Superintendent of the Investigation Unit of Immigration Division 3, and Pol. Lt. Col. Jaturachok Phetkhong, Inspector of the Investigation Unit of Immigration Division 3, along with investigative officers, to conduct a field operation to inspect violations related to immigration and the employment of foreign nationals in Rayong Province, as part of a sweep against immigration and foreign labour offences under the proactive policy of the Immigration Bureau.

Officers subsequently proceeded to inspect China West Construction Group (Thailand) Co., Ltd., located in Mab Kha Sub-district, Nikhom Phatthana District, Rayong Province, after foreign nationals were observed working on the premises. Officers carried out a thorough inspection of travel documents and work permits.

The inspection results revealed "5 foreign nationals committing offences," comprising 2 Chinese nationals and 3 Myanmar nationals, with violations falling into 2 main groups.

The first group consisted of 3 individuals — 1 Chinese national and 2 Myanmar nationals — charged with "being foreign nationals who entered and remained in the Kingdom without authorisation, and being foreign nationals who worked without a work permit or performed work outside the scope of what they were permitted to do."

The second group consisted of 2 individuals — 1 Chinese national and 1 Myanmar national — charged with "being foreign nationals who worked without a work permit or performed work outside the scope of what they were permitted to do."

Officers formally notified all 5 arrestees of the charges against them before taking them into custody and transferring them to investigators at Nikhom Phatthana Police Station, Rayong Province, for legal proceedings.

Maj. Gen. Songprod stated that the operation was part of proactive measures to prevent and suppress offences committed by foreign nationals, particularly illegal entry and unlawful residence in the Kingdom, as well as working without a permit or in violation of permitted conditions. Officers will continue to conduct inspections rigorously and seriously, and if any individual is found to have acted in contravention of the law or in circumstances that warrant the revocation of their permission to remain in the Kingdom, that permission will be strictly revoked in every case.

Meanwhile, officers are in the process of expanding the investigation to examine the employer and all related parties, with a view to pursuing charges related to hiring or harbouring illegal foreign nationals, as well as allowing them to perform work outside their permitted scope.
