The government spokesperson has announced that 76% of State Welfare Card holders have now completed identity verification, with 4.4 million rights reviews submitted. Remaining holders are being urged to complete the process before 31 August. The spokesperson credited public relations efforts for the increase in numbers.
Today (16 Aug.), Ms. Rachada Thanadirek, Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed progress on identity verification and rights reviews under the State Welfare Card programme. According to data from the Department of Provincial Administration as of 15 August 2026, 2.3 million new cardholders — or 76% — have completed identity verification, up from 2.1 million, or 69%, recorded on 2 August 2026. As a result, the number of those who have yet to verify their identity has fallen from approximately 980,000 to approximately 800,000. This group must complete identity verification in order to proceed to the benefit-receipt stage of the programme, which is set to begin on 1 October 2026.
Regarding rights reviews, 4.4 million individuals who did not pass the eligibility assessment have now submitted requests for a rights review, up from 4.1 million on 2 August 2026. This has reduced the number of those who have yet to submit a rights review from approximately 5.2 million to approximately 4.9 million. The deadline for doing so is 31 August 2026.
The Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office stated that these figures reflect the fact that public relations efforts and facilitation by government agencies have continuously helped more people enter the process. Over the past approximately two weeks, around 200,000 additional people completed identity verification and around 300,000 more submitted rights review requests. Nevertheless, a large number of people still need to take action, and all relevant agencies continue to press ahead with communications and facilitation at full capacity.
