"Anutin" dismisses fake news about rally to oust government, declares administration works with dedication and honesty — all ministers ready to answer opposition's doubts before the entire nation

"Anutin" dismisses fake news about a rally to oust the government after images of a protest in front of Government House appeared, declaring that the administration works with dedication and honesty. He says every minister is ready to explain and answer the opposition's doubts through the interpellation forum, noting that they are not answering members of parliament but answering the people of the entire country. He brushes aside the Senate-rigging issue, reiterating that the Senate election took place in 2024, before this government came in, and accuses those raising the issue of trying to link it to the government in order to undermine confidence. He takes a swipe, saying that losing an election means you have to accept the rules of the game.

At 08:30 on 17 August, at Military Airport 2, Wing 6 (Wing 6), Don Mueang, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, gave an interview regarding the case in which fake news was circulated about a rally to drive out the Prime Minister in front of Government House and at the Victory Monument. He said that fake news is fake news, and that anyone consuming such media should verify the facts. When asked whether he was worried that the situation could escalate through social media incitement, the Prime Minister said that the government carries out all its duties with dedication and honesty.

When further asked that, on top of this, the opposition is preparing to file a no-confidence motion during the upcoming parliamentary session, Mr. Anutin said that every minister is fully prepared to explain and answer the doubts or concerns that the opposition has about their trustworthiness. Many ministers who have been implicated must be ready to answer in a way that brings clarity to the public. "We are not answering the people inside parliament — we are answering the people of the entire country. Therefore, every minister must be prepared."

When asked whether the People's Party's agenda in the interpellation debate appeared to be the issue of Senate-rigging, Mr. Anutin said that he did not know what agenda anyone had. This government has no involvement whatsoever in any Senate matters. The Senate is a separate institution. The term "Senate-rigging" is a coinage invented by whoever wishes to coin it. This government assumed its duties in 2026, while the Senate election was held in 2024, so nothing about it is connected to this government. When asked further whether he would respond if the opposition raises the matter during the debate, Mr. Anutin said that anything related to the results of this government's work, they would answer — and anything that is not related, they would not.

When asked further that Mr. Parit Wacharasinhu, a party-list MP of the People's Party, and Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, also a party-list MP of the People's Party, had come out to release a clip of a conversation about Senate-rigging, Mr. Anutin said that the Senate-rigging matter is not something to ask him about, as he is on the executive side. "There are attempts to link it to the government — that is probably an effort to make people lose confidence in the government. It is the duty and the game of those who are not in the government but want to be." He then let out a chuckling laugh before adding: "Don't overthink it. Everything comes down to election results. Truthfully, if you lose an election, you have to accept the rules. Go ahead and scrutinize — but don't play outside the game."
