AYUTTHAYA — Tens of thousands of visitors and tourists converged on Ayutthaya's historic district on the evening of April 15, 2025, for the grand finale of the three-day Songkran water festival celebration, creating peak attendance throughout the night. The festivities, held in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya district, drew massive crowds to the water play areas within the island city, with vehicles experiencing significant traffic delays and foam stages operating at full capacity.
Songkran, Thailand's traditional New Year festival typically celebrated in mid-April, transforms ancient Ayutthaya into a major tourist destination where visitors participate in spirited water splashing and cultural activities. The final evening's surge in attendance reflected the festival's popularity as a year-end celebration, with both domestic and international tourists taking part in the water festivities throughout the evening.
