The government is getting serious, launching a major drug suppression drive and showcasing six months of results: 139 networks dismantled, more than 796 million methamphetamine pills seized, and assets worth over 9.1 billion baht frozen — while pressing ahead with building immunity among youth. The government has integrated all sectors alongside concrete transnational cooperation.
Ms. Rachada Thanadirek, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that tackling the drug problem has been elevated to an urgent national agenda under the leadership of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. The drive is being carried forward through a comprehensive set of measures covering prevention, suppression, treatment, and rehabilitation, coupled with strict law enforcement, while also opening opportunities for citizens to participate in surveillance and tip-offs through the ONCB hotline 1386.
Operational results over the first six months of fiscal year 2026 reflect concrete progress on government policy: more than 150,000 drug cases prosecuted, over 796 million methamphetamine pills seized, approximately 25 tonnes of ice (crystal methamphetamine) confiscated, 139 large-scale networks dismantled through follow-up operations, and assets totalling more than 9,156 million baht seized and frozen.
At the same time, the government has also placed importance on addressing the problem from a social dimension, bringing more than 79,000 drug users into treatment and rehabilitation processes, and conducting immunity-building activities for more than 4.5 million young people nationwide in order to prevent long-term entry into the drug cycle. (Data as of 23 April 2026.)
In addition, the government has upgraded its approach to tackling transnational drug problems through proactive intelligence operations and the strengthening of international cooperation, including the integration of security agencies driving intelligence, investigation, and intensive law enforcement. Notably, Thai–Lao PDR cooperation has led to the arrest of more than 40 target suspects during this period, reflecting concrete success in intercepting and suppressing drugs along the border.
