The Thai Highway Authority has launched a public tender for three roadside rest area development contracts on the M6 and M81 motorways, valued at 5.9 billion baht combined. Bid documents will be available from April 3 to May 5, 2026, with proposals due August 3, 2026. The authority has adjusted the Request for Proposal (RFP) conditions and deferred construction of connecting structures between the two sides of the highway.
The 32-year concession agreement is expected to become operational in 2027, with full service commencement targeted for 2028. The roadside rest areas will provide travelers with essential facilities including accommodation, dining, and other amenities along these major motorway corridors. The project aims to enhance highway safety and traveler experience while generating long-term revenue through the concessionaire model.
